Monochromator Multimode Microplate Reader

The Mithras² is a high-end multi-technology microplate reader based on monochromator technology with excellent performance, sensitivity and robustness.

Berthold Technologies Mithras² multimode reader for microplates is a unique system offering the benefits of both, monochromator and filter technologies for wavelength selection. The instrument is a powerful unit with ergonomic design for all non-isotopic labelled assays.

Double Monochromators

  • Two double monochromators for excitation and emission respectively
  • Entire wavelength flexibility in absorbance and fluorescence measurements
  • Can also be used for Time-Resolved Fluorescence and Luminescence measurements
  • Exceptional performance and versatility

 

RFID-coded Filters

  • For applications requiring the high light transmission of filters (e.g. BRET and Fluorescence Polarization)
  • RFID-coding of the filters enable and secure their error-free usage

 

Built-in Reagent Injectors

  • Up to 4 reagent injectors
  • Superior accuracy and precision (JET Injection technology)
  • Excellent mixing performance
  • Variable injections speeds and "friendly" material enable even injection of live cells
  • Reagent bottles can be kept in ice or at elevated temperatures

High sensitivity

  • Less than 2 amol Europium (TRF)
  • Less than 0.2 fmol Fluorescein (Fluorescence)
  • Less than 2 amol ATP (Luminescence)

 

Waste Pump

  • Excess fluids from priming and washing procedures are safely discarded via an automatic waste pump

 

Temperature Control

  • A temperature controlled incubation area ensures stable conditions for the microplate
  • Condensation of lidded microplates is reduced.

 

Automatic Plate Height Adjustment (Z Optimization)

  • The plate height adjustment module detects the height of the plate used and automatically adjusts the measurement optics for it
  • No need any more for users to perform time-consuming Z-scans
  • Ensures that there will be no crosstalk from adjacent wells
